Pierre Fournier and Crystel Matthey won 1st place in the mixed relay race !

"My original idea was to enter for the 10km event in the hope of running in a far better time than I did in Holland since I am now back in good physical shape. Finally, however, I decided to run “only” the 2X5 km relay race with Crystel Matthey, my intention being to hold onto my top form for a few more weeks to participate in the town races which would then be in full swing, terminating at the end of December.
For this event, we represented the Help-for-Hope Association for the fifth time this season (1st position in the Lausanne 10km: 1st in the Montée de Nozon; 1st in the Fyne Marathon; 8th in the Neuchâtel Tour de Canton)
There were 7000 participants at the starting line.
Leonard Komon of Kenya, the 10 km world record holder on road, took part and in all logic won the race in a time of 27’15, equaling the best world performance of the year.
In the relay race, there were 134 teams at the start. We came in first with a time in advance of one minute over the second mixed team. In addition we allowed ourselves the luxury of coming in first in the overall classification, with a time 18 seconds ahead of the second team, which was made up entirely of men!
I was particularly pleased with my personal performance, since I completed the 5km close to my personal best time in just slightly over 15 min. (average speed of 3min/km or 20km/h) As for Crystel, she also ran a superb race and together we completed the 10km in 34’25."

Congratulations to both athletes! We will see you again soon in Lausanne.
