Run Evasion Rhone

Sunday October 9

The 2011 edition was a classic despite the unpredictable weather which had us braced for the worst. In the event, the rain relented quite dramatically by 9h.30. The main group of runners even had the pleasure of a few rays of sunshine on arriving in Dardagny

The winner for the second time in a row was Tesfaye Eticha who finished in 1h 19’, cutting 19 seconds from the time he ran in last year’s race over the same distance of 22.3 km. “The conditions were difficult with the route being very slippery. Nevertheless around the 14km mark I was able to pull ahead”, summed up the Geneva Stadium athlete.

Michael Fischer, who also came in second in 2010, finished close on the heels of the winner separated by only seven short seconds. In the woman’s competition, the record was pulverized by Penuel Kiondo in the excellent time of 1h34’42” beating the time of the previous record holder, Yvona Jenc.

Despite the weather conditions, it can be noted that several records were broken such as the number of participants, the number of relay teams which entered (131 against 125 in 2009) and the number of woman participants (190 versus 186 in 2009) Congratulations ladies!

Thank you once again Tesfaye for being such a friend for Help-for-Hope ! All our applause on your victory in the RER race!
