Half-Ironman of Singapore - 20 March 2011

High heat and humidity did not stop Rudolf Gildemeister from running a great race in the outstanding time of 5 hours 31 minutes!

Here is his post-race commentary:

"This was my first HIM and I was a bit anxious about it all: would I be able to cope with the heat, did I put my bike back together properly, what should I eat when and how? I struggled in the first leg of the swim as I had my goggles pulled and took a few punches from other swimmers, and we were swimming against a strong current. I then really enjoyed the flat and fast bike course, but when I started out on the run I thought I probably pushed a little too hard on the bike! The run was thus a bit of a struggle, especially with the heat. But soon the finish was getting closer and it was a thrill to get there after just over 5 1/2 hours! It was also great running for help-for-hope in Singapore, it gave me strength when the going got tough;) "

Congratulations Rudolf on this great performance and special thanks for running under the Help-for-Hope colors.
